Summer Skin, Hair + Beauty Must-Haves
Safe to say it’s been a lonnnnnnng time since I’ve shared on the blog! I think back to the days I was active on here and although not even a full year it feels like my life is so different today than it was, even just six months ago. I’ll just say life is moving fast and I’m doing my best to keep up ;)
Now let’s dive into skincare. I’ve recently been on a big skincare kick and have tried out several new brands and have incorporated products that make me feel like I have a “complete” regimen – i.e. brightening serum for morning, retinol serum for evening, lip mask, eye cream, etc. I’ve enjoyed going through the regimen in the mornings and evenings and I’ve seen good results so I wanted to share, because are we really even friends if we don’t share our skin and beauty must haves? …Didn’t think so.
First off, I’m going to say I love a brand that has an powerhouse owner and founder behind it and that’s just partial reason why I love Charlotte Tilbury so much. When I was at PaperCity Magazine, I interviewed her and went through her product line with her and instantly fell in love with her. This woman has the best energy and she’s SMART – she knows what women want and need in skincare and she created just that product after product. Although I use many of her products, my must have is Charlotte’s Magic Cream, which I use every morning and feel like it preps my skin for easy makeup application and keeps my skin hydrated and dewy throughout the day.
A few others I’m loving, and know you will too.
Laneige Vanilla Lip Mask – Loving this leave-on lip mask and have been using it every night before I go to sleep – it soothes and moisturizes for smoother, more supple lips by morning. No nighttime routine complete without it. I love the vanilla scented mask – try that one!
Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Peel Pads – I’ve seen these a gazillion times on Instagram and held off on buying but now that I have them I’m 100% sold. I use them every other night and notice my skin tone evening out, scars fading and an overall natural glow when my makeup is on.
Goop SPF moisturizer – The Superscreen Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 40 PA+++ is a must. I’ve tried several Goop SPF moisturizer's and they’re all great – no smell or detection before makeup application. Win!
Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream – I’m still on the fence with this moisturizer that I’ve been using in my night routine. I will say that has my skin looking and feeling hydrated and plump by morning and doesn’t make me break out but it is a little thick. I’ll stick with it for now and have my eyes peeled for something new. Another Tatcha product I love and use regularly is the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist – love.
My new best friend: Sunday Riley – I’ve been using two products, the C.E.O 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum in the am and A++ High-Dose Retinol Serum in the evening, and I’m loving both. The morning serum helps to lighten and lift dark spots while the evening is an advanced-strength retinoid serum loaded with good for you ingredients that even skin tone, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and lift uneven texture and dark spots.
Kylie Cosmetics translucent setting powder – Never did I see the day I’d buy her products but the day came and I’m not mad about it. Great translucent setting powder, good price and they have several color options. I wish I would have ordered the pink setting powder so that one is next on my list.
SLIP Silk Pillowcase – Took me a while to bite the bullet and order this $85 pillowcase but I’ve loved having it and cannot sleep without it. This has helped keep my hair tame throughout the night so that I don’t have to do so much damage control when working with day 2 (and sometimes day 3) hair ;)
Color WOW Dream Coat – I’ve seen that this line is favored by the Kardashians – reliable source! ;) – and sold in high end salons, and then catch Dominique Sachse’s YouTube tutorial and review raving about this anti-humidity and frizz spray and I’m obsessed. I’ve never had an anti-frizz product work as well as this. It makes my hair so soft!!!
Another line that I recently discovered: Iles Formula which I found here in Houston at Ceron Hair Studio. Never have I ever smelled shampoo this delicious and my hair has never looked or felt healthier. I use the shampoo, conditioner, and finishing serum. Also, the stylists at Ceron’s can’t get enough of it either so it is also #expert-approved.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides – This unflavored powder get’s mixed into my morning smoothie and supports stronger hair, healthier skin, stronger nails, and gut support. Check, check, check and check! It’s unflavored so you can also add to water, coffee, yogurt, etc.
