Eyeshadow Palettes of the Moment
Eyeshadow has not always been my forte and to be honest I'm still learning – between complimentary shades and blending techniques it can be an art in itself. Thanks to numerous YouTube makeup tutorials and some of my favorite beauty brands launching palettes I simply couldn't resist, I've stepped my makeup game up this year and now I'm absolutely in love with eyeshadow palettes and creating new looks with them. Through trial and error I've picked up a thing or two in the shadow department and have learned which brands have the best colors and deliver irresistible pigmentation.
First, I LOVE bronze tones – the warmer, the better. I have blueish-grey eyes so I'm not sure if it's my eye color that makes me hate cool tones but I can't help but avoid cooler tones at all cost. Also, I like palettes that can complete my makeup look without the help of any other palettes. I want one that does it all – a light color for highlighting underneath the brow bone, a deep color to darken things up around the lash line, a transition shade for my crease, soft mattes and a shimmer or two for the lid.
My go-to palette is Tartelette In Bloom, hands down. It's what I recommend to everyone. The palette has a well-rounded collection of colors that blend effortlessly and can be used for both day and evening looks. The palette is small and compact, has a large mirror and the pans are big – all which I love. I use "Smarty Pants" to coat my lid and a just a little bit of "Firecracker" to finish almost every day. For an evening look I'll use "Rebel" or "Leader" along my top and bottom lid in replacement for liner and blend up.
For travel, I always pack and use Tarte Swamp Queen. First and foremost, the colors are ahhhhhmazing and so flattering. In addition to their 9 beautiful colors the palette has a bronzer, blush and highlighter making it ideal for saving space in my makeup bag. All the colors are buildable so start light for a natural, daytime look and add on for a sexy smoked out evening look. This palette sells out like crazy so it's hard to find. When it pops up online I always snag a few as gifts because it's just that good and looks good on everyone.
Beyond my mentioned favorites, I've tried a handful of palettes and added some goodies to my vanity. Here are my favorite eyeshadow palettes to compliment every eye color.
